Normfin

Terms of Use

The short version: this is a free reference tool, not legal advice, and nothing here is for sale.

The site

Normfin is a free research tool and a set of reference pages about the FinCEN investment adviser AML rule. Nothing on this site is for sale, there is no account to create, and no payment is ever requested. It is provided as is, with no warranty of accuracy or availability.

Not legal advice

This site is independent research, not legal advice, and using it creates no advisor-client or attorney-client relationship of any kind. It reads a firm's own public Form ADV filing against FinCEN's published rule text and reports a result; it does not review your firm's actual compliance program, does not account for facts outside that public filing, and makes no promise about your firm's real compliance status. Decisions about your firm's AML obligations should be made with qualified counsel, not from this site alone.

The underlying data

The checker's data comes from the SEC's own public investment adviser roster, which is self-reported by firms and updated on their own schedule. Each result page shows the roster date it was built from. A stale or incomplete filing on the SEC's side will produce a stale or incomplete result here; this site has no way to correct or verify what a firm has filed.

Acceptable use

Use the site for its intended purpose: looking up a firm's own public scope profile. No attempts to scrape, overload, or probe the site beyond normal use, and no automated bulk querying.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Normfin and the people who built it are not liable for any decision made in reliance on this site, including any cost, penalty, or compliance failure that follows from it. Nothing here limits liability the law does not allow limiting.

Changes

Content on this site, including the underlying dataset and the regulatory pages, may be updated at any time without notice as the rule, the SEC's roster, or FinCEN's own guidance changes.
